Scandinavianism as a phenomenon appears in Lund in 1829. It has a particularly strong following in Scania. A large brotherhood festivity is held on New Year's Eve 1837- 38. Through Scandinavianism, the Scanian-Nordic Union ideas dating back to 1332, is resumed. Scandinavianism was undermined when Sweden abandons Denmark in the war against Prussia/Austria in 1864.
