Scania
A Region in Europe

THE FLAG IS FLYING FOR SCANIA
FOUR TIMES A YEAR
Upon requests from
international organisations, SSF was asked to select four days which have
significans for Scania. In collaboration with other Scanian organisation the
following days were selected as important milestones in the region's
history.
21 AUGUST - The Scanian Unification Day
The day in the year 1103 when the Catholic Church confirmed the
ancient region of Scania - consisting of the four provinces of Halland,
Skåne, Blekinge and Bornholm - as one unified entity.
15 FEBRUARY - The Scanian Remembrance
Day.
The Day in 1679 when the Scanian resistance fighting against the invasion by
Sweden was finally crushed. This day marked the end of the resistance era of
that time.
The third sunday of July - The Scanian
Flag's Day.
The Day - the third Sunday in July - is recognised as the
official Scanian Flag's Day.
24 JANUARY - The Scanian Recognition Day.
The Day in 1993 when Scania again was established with its own
voice on the international arena after 335 years of silence. That is the
date SSF became a full member of the UNPO.
